Simpson Lawrence manual vertical windlass with 8mm gypsy. I managed to find this second hand unit through a member of our sailing club, given the considerable cost of keeping the boat in the water I buy good s/h where I can, so this was a good buy at £50, as opposed to £600 for brand new, it’s now been serviced and cleaned up really well, I’ve manufactured a new backing plate to bed in under the foredeck with Sikaflex and will fit at the weekend, we have always had a windlass on most of our boats, White Baron was luxury as it was electric, they do take the strain out of letting go and winding to lift the anchor off the sea bed and back onto the boat, an aid to saving my ageing muscles!
